Captain D.J.G. Longpré
Captain Dylan J.G. Longpré was born in Pembroke, Ontario. In March of 2005, Captain Longpré joined the 2677 – 1st Air Defence Regiment (Lanark & Renfrew Scottish), RCA RCACC. Over the course of a six-year cadet career, he obtained the rank of Cadet Chief Warrant Officer and held the position of Regimental Sergeant Major. Captain Longpré attended a total of 29 weeks of summer training in: Blackdown (Borden), Connaught (Ottawa), and Rocky Mountain (Alberta) Cadet Training Centres. Captain Longpré spent two summers as a staff cadet at Connaught Cadet Training Centre (CTC); his final summer as a Cadet Master Warrant Officer, tasked as the training centre’s Unit Public Affairs Representative (UPAR). Captain Longpré is a recipient of the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence (2007), the Lord Strathcona Medal (2008), and the Army Cadet Service Medal (2009) – with additional service bars for 2010 and 2011. Captain Longpré was presented with the appointment of Master Cadet in 2010 and a Commanding Officer’s Commendation from Connaught CTC that same year.
Enrolling into the Canadian Armed Forces, as a Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer in 2012, Captain Longpré has worked with a variety of units within the Canadian Cadet Organization (CCO). Specifically, he has worked with 204 Algonquin Regiment RCACC (North Bay) as the TrgO, 2784 GGFG RCACC (Ottawa) as the AdminO, 2870 Royal Canadian Dragoons (Ottawa) as the A/TrgO, and 2677 42nd Field Regiment RCACC as the TrgO. Captain Longpré has completed four summers of Class B taskings at Connaught CTC as Public Affairs Officer (PAO), and one summer as a support company AdminO. Captain Longpré has also worked for the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central) and the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group tasked with graphic design work, in support of various projects at the Regional and National levels of the CCO.
Captain Longpré was promoted to his current rank and appointed Commanding Officer of 2677 on 1 April 2016.
Captain Longpré attended Fellowes High School in Pembroke, and post-secondary at both Canadore College (North Bay) and Algonquin College (Ottawa), studying Graphic Design and Business Management, respectively. Today, Captain Longpré works as a public servant for the Department of National Defence.
In his spare time, Captain Longpré enjoys photography, traveling, and volunteering. He is married to his best friend, Joanie. Together, they are the proud parents of David and Évelyn.
