2.2 Ottawa Valley Cadet Sports Competition (OVCSC)
The OVCSC is an annual sports competition taking place at the Dundonald Hall (DDH) at Garrison Petawawa. Cadet units from Pembroke, Petawawa, Renfrew, and Manotick will be participating. This year’s competition will take place Saturday, March 10th, 1230-1800hrs. Eat lunch before arriving and supper will not be provided.
Cadets will be placed in teams and will compete in a variety of varsity sports. Cadets will also be given the opportunity to swim at the base pool.
Cadets are required to wear their unit t-shirt and shorts. In addition, remember to bring:
Indoor running shoes
Remember “one man, one kit”. You are responsible for your own belongings.
2.3 Trivia Fundraiser – Saturday, March 24th
We will be looking for cadet volunteers to assist at the Trivia Fundraiser. Cadets who have not participated in a fundraiser this training year, should sign up for this event.
2.4 Ottawa Citizenship Trip
As per the cadet training program, there is a strong element of citizenship. To meet our citizenship training mandate, we are planning a citizenship trip to Ottawa. This will be a one day trip with travel, meals, and admission to different locations all paid for by the unit. More details to be announced in the coming weeks.
2.5 Standard First-Aid Training Course
We are in the process of preparing for a first-aid course that was originally planned for December. The course is open to all cadets that sign up for it at the armoury. The course will run either 21-22 April OR 28-29 April, but we will confirm the dates within the next few weeks. Cadets participating on the course must attend both days of the course.
2.6 Specialty Teams
Marksmanship Team – regular practice
Pipes & Drums Band Practice – All band members. ALL BAND EQUIPMENT MUST BE RETURNED.
2.7 Summer Course Selections
Summer course applications have been received and are being reviewed. Applications will be prioritized by the training cell and sent to the CO for recommendation. The CO reviews each application, then processes it through the Regional Headquarters. We are expecting cadets to be notified of their selection for camp in May – please be patient while waiting for selection. Questions about summer training can be sent to the Training Officer, through your Chain of Command.
